Yihe Xiong admitted possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause a fear of violence
A student faces jail – after pleading guilty to sparking an armed police lockdown at Exeter University earlier this year.
25-year-old Yihe Xiong, a postgraduate student from China, took a replica firearm on to the University Streatham campus in June, leading to part of it being evacuated.
At Exeter Crown Court today, he admitted possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause a fear of violence.
Judge Peter Johnson said it was a very serious matter and he should expect a custodial sentence.
Mr Xiong will be sentenced next Tuesday.
