Students help clean up East Devon beach

Exmouth Community College raise over £550

Sixth Form students and tutors from Exmouth Community College have rolled up their sleeves and taken to the shoreline for a beach clean this term, combining environmental action with a celebration of student led fundraising.
 
They collected litter across the towns local coastline and also raised over £560 for Surfers Against Sewage, which is a South West marine conservation charity. They were joined at the beach by representatives from the organisation, who shared insights into the charity’s work fighting plastic pollution and protecting marine environments.
 
Exmouth Community College, which is part of the Ted Wragg Trust, students are being encouraged to develop morals and act with integrity. They are also taught about their duty to others and how to make contributions to their local, national and global communities.
 
Tom Inman, Headteacher at Exmouth Community College said: “I’m incredibly proud of our Sixth Form students and staff for their commitment to environmental stewardship and community involvement. The beach clean up session demonstrated the positive impact young people can have when they come together for a cause they believe in.”
