Chip pan causes fire
Misadventure with a chip pan on Sunday evening left an Ottery St Mary resident needing hospital treatment for smoke inhalation.
Fire crews and paramedics were called to a terraced house in Mill Street in the town at 8.20 p.m. following reports of a smoke alarm sounding. Fire engines from Ottery St Mary, Honiton and Middlemoor were quickly mobilised.
Fire crews confirmed one casualty still in the property, which means they had to go in wearing breathing apparatus to rescue them.
The person isn't seriously hurt.
