A meeting takes place in Exeter today to look at the possible options for ensuring that the rail link with Newton Abbot remains resilient. It follows the severe storm damage at Dawlish in February which put the line ouf of action for two months.
Today's meeting brings together Network Rail, train operators and representatives from several local town, city and district councils.
They'll be looking at an initial report by Network Rail on both the existing route through Dawlish and the alternatives that have been put forward .. which include bringing an old line across Dartmoor back into use.
But Network Rail are stressing that the key point of the report is to look at the best way of ensuring the resilience of the rail link in the long term .. which covers all the potential routes including the existing one.
