Coronavirus precaution after Italy trip
A teacher from a primary school in North Devon is currently self-isolating at home pending test results for coronavirus, after developing a sore throat following a ski holiday in Italy.
The county council says it's just a precautionary measure in line with guidance.
It comes after the Foreign Office has confirmed the death of a first British person as a result of the virus. The man had been in quarantine in Japan after catching it on the Diamond Princess cruise liner.
Meanwhile, two more people have been diagnosed with Covid-19 in the UK - one in England and one in Wales.
A spokesperson from Devon County Council’s Public Health team said: “We are aware that a teacher from High Bickington Primary School is currently self-isolating at home pending test results, after developing a sore throat following a ski holiday in Northern Italy, not classed under one of the containment areas.
"This procedure is a precautionary measure only, and is in line with national guidance on coronavirus and follows advice taken from NHS111."
