The event was due to take place in April.
The organisers of the popular TEDxExeter talks say they have made "the extremely difficult decision" to postpone this year’s TEDxExeter event.
More than 900 people, including speakers and attendees from overseas, were due to take part in the event at the Exeter Northcott and the university’s Alumni Auditorium on Friday 17th April.
They say it's one of the "hardest decisions" they’ve had to make in the nine years of TEDxExeter.
Exeter City Council Director Jon-Paul Hedge says: “This would have been a really difficult decision for Claire and the TEDxExeter team, who have worked so hard. It is a remarkable and a complex event organised by volunteers. It’s good to hear we will however be able to see those amazing speakers next year.”
They are now investigating whether they can hold a "virtual" event.
