The MP for east Devon is facing more calls to ensure that the colony of wild beavers on the river Otter are not taken into captivity
It follows a meeting of Ottery St Mary town council - who decided they want the beavers to stay.
DEFRA plans to trap them and test them for disease, before putting them into captivity.
But the council agreed to ask Hugo Swire to intervene - asking DEFRA to ensure that the beavers are returned to the river immediately instead.
