Eight people evacuated
It's going to take some time to get a tractor out of the mud in the Exe Estuary off Exmouth, according to a coastguard rescue team.
The Environment Agency's been informed after the agricultural vehicle, thought to be connected to the RSPB, started sinking yesterday at around 1.35pm.
Eight people were evacuated and taken back to Exmouth's Imperial slipway, near the rugby club.
They were about a third of a mile off the shoreline with the tide coming in behind them - and were described as well and truly stuck.
The coastguard rescue team says it's likely to be a complex recovery to get it out because of the location, unstable shifting sands and the weight of the tractor. They think its fuel should be safe because it's in a pressurized tank, but other people suggest that there's still a risk of a leak.
