Shopkeepers in Exmouth are being urged to join a network of traders who alert one another to shoplifters and other criminals.
An event's taking place this evening for local businesses to find out more about the initiative - in which participants are equipped with two-way radios for rapid communication.
Police circulate details of criminals known to be operating in the area - enabling traders to ban them from their own premises and warn other businesses to keep them out.
They can also spread the word on issues such as counterfeit money being used.
