New measures to tackle casualties
From today (20 August), drivers on the A38 passing through the villages of Tideford and Landrake must slow down.
The limits have been reduced from 40 mph to 30 mph, and new speed cameras have been installed to enforce the change.
The move is part of a safety initiative by National Highways and its partners, including Cornwall Council and Devon & Cornwall Police.
The decision follows data from the last five years showing 97 casualties and two deaths in that six-mile stretch of road.
Some have criticised the new cameras as "cash cows," but officials say the goal is to save lives.
This change follows a similar installation of ten average speed cameras on the same road between Carkeel roundabout and Trerulefoot.
