Nine die in Exmouth
For the first time since the start of the pandemic, an area of the south west is above the average rate for covid infections in England.
Outbreaks in East Devon are centred on two care homes; one in Exmouth, one in Sidmouth.
Nine residents of Brandon House in Exmouth, which cares for many people living with dementia, have passed away after contracting coronavirus. Staff and residents there had received their first covid jab in January.
Police are investigating following the outbreak at Holmesley Care Home, Sidmouth.
Across East Devon, 72 cases per 100,000 of the population were reported in the latest figures, compared to 59 in England.
