Union to work with management over NHS 111 problems

Employees at the local NHS 111 non-emergency phone line say they've had a 'productive' meeting with management, over concerns they raised about staff shortages.

Members of the RCN union said the lack of staff with clinical training meant some callers had to wait a long time to get medical advice.

They also said the shortage was putting the existing staff under great stress.

The South West Ambulance Service, which runs the phone line, has now agreed to work with the union to address the problems.
