Local young people are being warned that watching live television on a computer or mobile device DOES require a licence.
In the last year 38 18-25 year olds in Exeter have been caught watching without a TV licence - and seven in Exmouth.
A survey of students has found that nearly a third think they're unlikely to be caught by the TV licensing organisation if they're using a computer or device rather than a television set.
However if they are detected they can face a fine of up to a thousand pounds.
