The leaders of county and unitary councils in the Westcountry are calling for more money from central Government as they face a funding crisis.
In a joint letter the leaders of the South West Peninsula Councils are calling for more cash as they face the alternative of increases in council tax for residents.
The authorities, which include Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, Dorset and the Isles of Scilly, say they face a £2.3 billion shortfall for social care services.
In the letter, they claim that the Government has offered them £150 million over the next year which isn't enough.
The councils claim that current funding levels have resulted in significant budget challenges for all Westcountry councils.
