Police are appealing for witnesses after an 11 year old boy was seriously injured in a road accident in Tiverton.
A purple Citroen car and an articulated lorry collided on the A361 eastbound at Gornhay Cross at about ten to six yesterday evening.
The boy, from the Tiverton area, had to be cut free from the car by firefighters and was flown to the Bristol Royal Infirmary with serious leg injuries.
The female driver suffered minor injuries and was also taken to the Bristol hospital.. three other children were checked by paramedics.
The driver of the lorry which was registered to Exeter was uninjured.
The road was closed for more than eight hours while police examined the scene.
