A regional campaign group for equality says women are being hit particularly hard by Government cuts
Equality South West are concerned about changes to the benefits system - which involve the payment of a single Universal Credit.
The fact that this is paid to a single member of the household - usually the man - puts women at more risk of having their finances restricted if their partner is abusive.
The group says the spending cuts in the public sector have also led to large numbers of women losing their jobs.
