Plymouth will play Championship football
Plymouth Argyle are crowned League One champions after coming from behind to beat Port Vale in the final match of the season.
This victory brings a close to one of the most successful seasons in the football club’s history. This is the first time Argyle have won a league title since 2004 when they also placed first in the third tier, but this season was done in style.
Plymouth Argyle manager Steven Schumacher only needed one full season to guide the Devon side to a title, a job which nine bosses couldn’t manage and took 19 long years. He smashed a century of points hitting 101 points- one off their club record tally for a season. The 38-year-old has also been named League One manager of the season after the surreal 2022/23 campaign.
A final at Wembley was achieved by the Devon side, even though result didn’t go the way of the green army, it captivated a remarkable season for the Janner’s.
They could be playing teams along the likes of Southampton, perhaps Everton depending on which Premier League teams stay up or go down! Away trips to Norwich and Watford will be a routine for travelling Argyle fans next season and only one step from the top tier is promising for the future of the club.
It is 13 years since the club were last in the Championship, and to be back in the second-tier as League One champions made 4,000 travelling supporters triumph.
