Buccaneers Live Events Venue & Bar used to be the town cinema, The Palace. We are pleased to return this building to it's original use, that of an entertainment destination. The venue's layout is on three levels with a stage at the far end. The space can be laid out with cabaret style seating (approximately 20 tables and 70 chairs + further fixed seating along the sides) or cleared for standing (180 comfortable capacity) depending on the type of gig. Being a former cinema the venue boasts excellent acoustics for live recording and with a PA , mixer and a bit of reverb brings the sound to life. Should you be an audience member at the back you will receive the same sound quality as if you were down the front.


We want people to create an EVENT at Buccaneers, a public entertainment event such as a band playing or a comedy night. We particularly want to hear from up and coming, hard working, local bands. Your event could be a one off or have a frequency. For example, The Moon Jazz & Blues Club is a once monthly event on the third Thursday of the month. It is very much an event and is most definitely a social and musical night out. Private events are also welcome, like birthday parties, wedding receptions, charity events, or just a good old get together.

Buccaneers is available free of charge for you to create your event. If you are planning a public event with an entry cost then you get to keep the door money but you will need someone to be on the door. From the information you send us we will promote your public event around the town on our monthly leaflet and via social media and local What's On bulletins.

There is a reasonably good PA but it is advised to bring your own mixer. In the future this is something that the venue will be investing in. If you want to bring all your own kit then that is absolutely fine. Mics and mic stands, fold backs etc.

We reserve the right to say no to events, without giving reasons, if we feel they are not within our interest.
