Dr Louise Newson, physician and the founder of the free Balance hormone health app (which has more than 1.5 million downloads to date), the Newson Clinic and host of the award-winning Dr Louise Newson podcast, is embarking on the UK-wide tour to educate as many people as possible around the science and history of hormones.
The show sees Dr Louise challenging everything you’ve ever been told about hormones, especially with respect to their effects on mental health, as well as exposing years of medical misogyny.
Following on from Dr Louise’s hugely successful 2024 theatre tour, her new show, entitled Breaking the Cycle: The Power of Hormones, promises to break new ground with a raw, honest take on how the impact of changing and low hormones (progesterone, estradiol and testosterone) can negatively affect women’s mental health. As well as telling the hidden story of hormone treatments, Dr Louise will explore the decades of injustice where women have not been listened to, believed, nor prescribed the correct hormone treatments by healthcare professionals.
Tackling key questions around hormones, contraception and health of women, Breaking the Cycle: The Power of Hormones promises to be an empowering evening for everyone – from women trying to navigate contraception and PMS, to women looking to increase their knowledge about perimenopause, menopause, HRT and testosterone.
Kicking off in April, the 38-date tour will see Dr Louise visiting locations including Nottingham, Bristol, Darlington, Worcester, Winchester, Exeter and Swansea. The show will include real-life stories, myth busting and the opportunity for the audience to put their questions to Dr Louise, a No. 1 Sunday Times bestselling author.
“Women of all ages deserve more information, better support and better healthcare,” says Dr Louise.
“I’m passionate about sharing my knowledge about the hormones that impact us from our teens onwards, and I want to reach as many people as possible with the right information. I’m particularly looking forward to having honest conversations in the Q&A sessions during the show.
“This is more than a health talk – it is a movement and a wake-up call. Whether it’s menopause, PMDD, contraception or PCOS, I’m so excited to be able to reach as many people across the UK as possible to provide information that can truly change lives.”
