Archaeologist, John Salvatore, explores some of the city's Roman History

More Information (Radio Exe is not responsible for external websites)

Archaeological investigation, often having taken place in advance of post-WWII building projects, has revealed a wealth of information about the mid-1st century AD Roman fortress at Exeter and the Roman walled city which replaced it. The talk will focus on the NW Quarter of the city and will demonstrate that beneath our feet lay the traces of the wooden buildings of the fortress and the remains of Roman stone buildings of the city. For example, recovered evidence shows that St Nicholas Priory was built on the site where a Roman barrack block once stood.

This is a fundraising event for St Nicholas Priory. Ticket price £15 and includes complimentary drinks and refreshments.

Doors open at 6pm for 6:30 start.
