Allotment holders in Exeter have welcomed a U-turn by the city council over plans for a steep increase in their rents.
It was proposed as part of a range of measures to reduce the cost to the council of subsidising the allotments service.
But allotment holders met council representatives and came up with their own suggestions for saving money, which included a much more efficient way of rent collection.
