A man armed with a handgun has attempted to rob a petrol station on Exeter's Marsh Barton.
He ran off when the cashier at Dunns Motors in Trusham Road refused to hand over any money after the attempted raid at about 9.30 this morning.
Police say they recovered a weapon nearby but the would-be robber is still at large.
He was wearing an orange jacket and a black and grey hooded top, had a stubbly beard and dark eyebrows, and spoke with an Eastern European accent.
