People near the coast who're planning to launch Chinese lanterns into the sky during New Year celebrations are being asked to let their local coastguard know.
The lanterns are often mistaken for distress flares and if lifeboats are called out it costs the RNLI a thousand pounds each time.
The RNLI say they have to respond even if they suspect there's no emergency - so they're urging people to give the coastguard advance warning of lantern launches to avoid any false alarms.
