Critical stadium infrastructure has been damaged
Exeter City's League One fixture against Burton Albion on Saturday has been called off following a fire at St James Park.
The blaze damaged the stadium's control room, as well as the electricity supply to the Adam Stansfield Stand, PA and fire alarm systems, first aid facilities and internal computer networks.
The damage isn't repairable in time to make the ground safe for the game.
Repair work began earlier this week, and fans have been raising money to cover the cost until and insurance claim can come through.
In a statement, the club said: "Despite the extraordinary efforts of club staff, volunteers and local businesses, we are unable to complete the extensive repairs required, or to carry out the essential safety testing needed to ensure all systems are operating safely for our supporters and players,"
"Repair work will continue at pace as we aim to restore the stadium to full operation as quickly as possible.
"Everyone at Exeter City would like to thank our incredible supporters for their unwavering backing during this difficult time. We are stronger together."
The club said a new date for the fixture would be announced in due course.
