It's been confirmed that cuts to community hospital beds in the area will start from next week. The number of community inpatient units is being cut from seven to three.
Next week Seaton and Okehampton hospitals will lose their beds, followed in the coming weeks by Honiton and Whipton.
The RD&E NHS Trust say it's part of their plan to improve patient care.
They're promising 50 new nursing, therapist and support roles, and a hundred and 70 people will be redeployed into new community teams and into hospitals.
The Trust claims more care at home improves community provision and that there's less demand for inpatient beds.
The plans were strongly criticised during a consultation earlier this year.
