The number of food safety inspections being made in Torbay has been reduced because of budget cuts.
An internal audit by Torbay Council raised concerns about a relatively low percentage of planned inspections.
The Food Standards Agency’s website lists 57 food businesses in the Torbay towns, and says some need major or urgent improvements.
Torbay Council says it will make changes in the next 12 months.
