Campaigners who fought a successful campaign to stop East Devon district council selling off its Sidmouth base are now calling on the local authority to involve the town's community as they decide on their next move.
The council wanted to sell the existing country house and parkland to developers, to fund a relocation to a purpose-built office in Honiton which would be less expensive to run.
But in a surprise move on Friday, councillors went against their own officers' recommendation and refused to give planning permssion.
The Save Our Sidmouth group, which mobilised huge opposition to the plan, says now it's time for the council and local residents to work together to find a solution.
