There was some early morning travel chaos in Exeter for commuters as a 95 tonne demolition machine was brought in to the city centre following the fire.
The heavy load caused road closures and some disruption in Alphington Road, Exe Bridges, Western Way and South Street as it was maneovered in to the area.
The equipment will now begin the task of demolishing the front of the badly damaged Royal Clarence Hotel.
