Events have been taking place across Devon to mark the centenary of the beginning of the First World War.
In Exeter Cathedral the lights were switched off at 11pm - the exact time that the war began on August 4th 1914.
Many people observed the moment by switching off the lights and lighting a single candle in their own homes.
In Exmouth a commemoration event took place in Strand Gardens in the afternoon and evening (pictured).
