Education Hub is leading the way
Exeter College has been recognised as the top further education institution for apprenticeship starts in the construction sector for England.
Industry figures show Devon’s biggest college is leading the way nationally for students beginning training programs and entering employment.
During a time of skill gaps in the construction industry, Exeter College has seen a hike in employers asking to take on new apprentices.
Key to this success is the college’s dedicated Construction Centre, known Falcon House, which is based in the Sowton industrial estate, in the city.
The facility offers training in various construction trades, including bricklaying, carpentry, plumbing and retrofitting.
Mike Blakeley, The Executive Director of Apprenticeships and Future Skills at the college said: “Here at the college, we have got the recipe right, we are working really hard with primary and secondary school children, as well as college students to show them what brilliant opportunities are in the industry.”
