The executive head teacher from Exeter at the centre of controversy about his salary has now resigned.
It was revealed that Steve Maddern earned more than 150,000 a year in his role at the city's largest school, Westexe Technology College.
That's more than the Prime Minister.
Following a Devon County Council audit of the schools finances, and the suspension of Mr Maddern two weeks ago, he has now decided to resign with immediate effect.
It's understood he will be paid for a three month notice period, but will receive no other pay-off.
