An Exeter man who sexually touched a child and forced her to keep it a secret has been jailed.
David Fuller, 64, of Church Lane, Broadclyst, was convicted of two counts of sexual activity with a minor following a trial at Exeter Crown Court.
He was found not guilty of one sexual assault by penetration charge involving the same victim.
A jury heard how Fuller abused the girl in 2023 and attempted to keep his actions secret by buying her jewellery - instructing her to hide it from her family.
The abuse came to light when the victim bravely showed her mother a diary on her phone detailing Fuller's actions. Police were notified, and Fuller was arrested.
During a search, officers found a jewellery receipt in Fuller's wallet, corroborating the victim's account.
Fuller admitted to buying the victim gifts but denied any sexual contact.
Fuller will be on the Sex Offenders' Register for 10 years and is subject to a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Detective Constable Megan Singleton praised the victim's courage, stating, "It was through the victim in this case bravely telling her mother what David Fuller did to her, and that information in turn being reported to us that we were able to bring him to justice."
