Exeter has been named as one of the most expensive cities for buying property.. in proportion to local earnings.
A report by Lloyds TSB has compared house prices around the UK with the average wage of people living in the various locations.
It found the typical price was more than seven times what people in Exeter can expect to earn in a year.
Nationally the most affordable areas are in the north country, Scotland and northern Ireland... with the most expensive cities including Oxford, Bath and Truro.
