The Royal Clarence Hotel isn't the only landmark under the demolition claw this week.
Buildings along Exmouth seafront are being knocked down, ahead of controversial regeneration plans that will see a multi-million pound watersports centre, other leisure facilities and some shops.
A referendum in the town earlier this year overwhelmingly showed people were in favour of keeping a children's fun area and traditional seaside cafes instead.
There's a short video of DJ's Cafe on the seafront being demolished on the Radio Exe Facebook page.
