Twilight Walk raises £38,000

Saturday 9 July saw over 500 hospice supporters gather in Exmouth for Hospiscare’s Twilight Walk.

After two years of taking place ‘your way’, with participants walking a route of their choice in their own locality due to the pandemic, the sea of pink walkers received a warm welcome back to Exmouth, the home of Twilight Walk.

Hospiscare Senior Events Fundraiser, Martin Stokke, says: “It was absolutely fantastic to be able to come together with our Twilight walkers, supporters and volunteers after two years. I am delighted to report that so far, the event has raised over £37,000 to support local end-of-life care.

“The money raised will enable us to continue providing our specialist care at no cost to patients and families across Exeter, Mid and East Devon.

“We want to say a huge thank you to all the brilliant people who came out to support their local hospice and express our gratitude to our headline event sponsor, Jurassic Fibre.”

This year, participants set off from Manor Gardens, a new location for 2022, to walk a route of either six or 13 miles. The walkers were rewarded on their return to the venue with a pasty, kindly provided by Moore’s Pies and Pasties, as well as live music and a choice of food and drink from local vendors for the Twilight after-party.

Hospiscare would like to thank all of the walkers for their fantastic fundraising and dedication to the local hospice. The charity would also like to thank the event volunteers, who truly were the driving force behind the day and all of the local businesses who raised awareness and donated a percentage of their proceeds on the day.
