Twenty firefighters were needed to deal with a house fire in Exmouth last night - which destroyed part of the building and left the rest of it damaged.
A family of four were in the building in Durham Close at the time but were alerted by their fire alarm.
The fire started in the utility room at about 12.30 am and spread through the house - fire crews were at the scene until 5.30am.
One person needed treatment shock and the effects of inhaling smoke, and a victim support unit was sent from Bridgwater to help the family.
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
