Half of the travellers living on the unauthorised camp at the top of Haldon Hill are facing eviction.
Teignbridge Council is planning to turn the site into a smaller, legal, camp. That means that many will be asked to leave.
Currently around 60 adults and children live there.
The Council says they will use enforcement action if necessary but have made a pledge the help the families in the greatest need there.
