Devon and Cornwall Police have spent 30 thousand pounds in the last six months repairing damage caused by staff failing to apply the handbrakes of police cars properly.
Deputy Chief Constable Bill Skelly has revealed there have been 7 incidents where police cars or other property has been damaged.
A message has now been posted on the force's' internal mail system to remind staff that public safety is critical ...and so is not wasting public money.
The news comes just a day after the force were praised for making prudent cost savings and improving productivity.
