It's back after 2 years

Local hospice Hospiscare is asking the community to step up, step out and ‘think pink’ this July to raise money for the end-of-life care charity.

The hospice’s flagship fundraising event, Twilight Walk, returns to Exmouth on Saturday 9 July after taking place as a ‘virtual event’ for the past two years and will see hundreds of walkers dressed in pink hit the East Devon coastline.

Hospiscare is running a special offer of two tickets for £32 when walkers sign up with a friend – and anyone signing up before 1 July will be entered into a prize draw to win a brilliant range of prizes, including meals out and local day trips.

Event participants can choose to walk either a six- or 13-mile circular route, starting from Exmouth’s Manor Gardens and walking along East Devon’s stunning coastline.

Event organisers have promised the “sparkliest Twilight Walk ever” and there will be plenty of surprises for walkers along the route to help celebrate Hospiscare’s 40th anniversary, which coincides with the event.

Proceeds from the event will help to fund the hospice’s free end-of-life care for people living with terminal illnesses in Exeter, Mid and East Devon.

The hospice’s Director of Fundraising and Marketing, Katie Chantler, will be taking part in the walk with her daughter, Georgia, and mother, Jo. Katie says, “This is such a special year for Hospiscare, our 40th anniversary year, and we couldn’t be more delighted that the Twilight Walk is back in Exmouth with us all able to come together in person to raise funds for the hospice and celebrate 40 years of care. With the help of our community and every amazing Twilight walker, Hospiscare will be able to stand by the side of local families in need for years to come.”

Local businesses and organisations have shown their support for the flagship fundraising event by participating in a range of pink-themed activities in the run-up to the event. Pubs and bars across the region have added rose-tinted food or drink to their menus, businesses have organised ‘wear it pink’ days and shops have created pink window displays.

Annabel McCabe at Jurassic Fibre, sponsor of the event, said: “It’s a pleasure to support Hospiscare’s Twilight Walk. We know each and every pound raised makes a real difference to our community and our staff members loved taking part last year. We’ll be fielding a team of walkers again this year and getting

glammed up to support the hospice for their 40th birthday. It’s going to be a brilliant night!”
