Plans for a 'park and ride' close to Ide have been voted against by the local parish council - by seven votes to one.
The scheme would see 556 car parking spaces at Round Field near the A30/A377 interchange at Ide, and regular buses into the city centre.
The idea of the Devon County Council scheme is to reduce traffic on one of the main routes into Exeter, along Alphington Road.
The village will now present a united front against the proposal
