Devon and Cornwall's Chief Constable says there will be improvements to the non-emergency call handling service - which has been strongly criticised by the police and crime commissioner.
Tony Hogg described the system as 'unacceptable' and the technology behind it 'unfit for purpose'.
The Chief Constable Shaun Sawyer says he agrees that - while it is a non-emergency service, callers shouldn't be waiting so long to get their queries dealt with - and the problems are being tackled.
