Two lifeboats involved in Holcombe incident
A man who fell on board a boat off Holcombe in Lyme Bay has been rescued with the help of two RBLI lifeboats.
The coastguard alerted crews in Exmouth to the incident off the coast between Dawlish and Teignmouth on Bank Holiday Monday morning.
The injured man suffered head and shoulder injuries following a fall on board a 32 foot yacht about four kilometres out to sea in fair conditions. Two lifeboat crew from Exmouth boarded the yacht and administered first aid to the casualty.
They called for help from Teignmouth's RNLI to ask for another lifeboat to take he casualty to shore and to a waiting ambulance.
The yacht was then towed by the Exmouth lifeboat team to Torquay harbour.
The operation took about three and a half hours.
