The new air link between Exeter and London is expected to lead to better public transport links between the city and the local airport.
Earlier this week Flybe announced that it would be operating three flights each way every day from the end of October.
Public transport to Exeter airport is currently patchy.
But with the expected increase in both business and leisure air travel to and from the capital, business leaders and the airport's managing director both say they want to improve the provision of road and rail transport to and from Exeter.
