Motorway was closed for much of Wednesday
A lorry fire has caused the M5 between Exeter and Cullompton to close in both directions this morning.
National Highways has confirmed it's a car transporter carrying electric vehicles and the motorway currently remains shut between junction 28 and 29 and emergency services are on the scene.
Diversions are in place around nearby towns and villages but traffic has been building up around the area.
Devon County Council said there have been severe delays at Bickleigh Bridge on the A396 and said people should expect delays.
National Highways said they were expecting this to be several hours because the incident is ongoing.
