Emergency services were called just after 3.30am (Sunday 26th May)
A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson, following a report of bins on fire in Torquay in the early hours of this morning.
On arrival to Union Street at just after 3.30am, fire crews found the blaze from the refuse bins had spread to the adjacent domestic property which was heavily smoke logged.
They used breathing apparatus, hosereel jets and a covering jet to extinguish the fire.
Two adults and two children were walked to safety by firefighters and assessed by ambulance staff. Police were also called to the incident.
