Newton Abbot incident started yesterday at 4.15pm
Enquiries are continuing this morning after a 31 year old man was found dead at a house in Spencer Road yesterday (Monday 8th April).
Emergency services were called following concern for the welfare of a man. He was treated by paramedics but pronounced dead at the scene.
His next of kin have been told and officers say his death is not being treated as suspicious.
40 homes were evacuated last night after chemicals were found in the house. But officers now believe these are not explosive and people have been allowed home.
Specialist officers remain at the scene testing the substances.
