Investigation underway
A 35-year-old man has died in custody at Torquay police station.
Police have not disclosed why the man was being detained or how he died. He'd been in custody since the early hours of the morning, but was found to be seriously unwell later that afternoon. Despite paramedics attending, he was declared dead at the police station.
Devon and Cornwall Police say they are cooperating fully with an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
