More local authorities in England are being urged to follow the example of Devon county council by signing up to an agreement between the UK and France, to reduce maritime pollution.
Devon is one of eleven councils, mainly based along the south coast, who're supporting the Cross Channel Declaration and will be pressing for better legislation to safeguard the sea, and coastline, from contamination.
Incidents such as the grounding of the Napoli container ship off east Devon and the deaths of seabirds along the south coast, caused by the oil additive PIB, have highlighted the need for improved protection.
