WATCH: Maximum is currently six months
MPs, including Exeter's Ben Bradshaw, are calling for longer sentences for those convicted of hit and run offences.
At the moment the maximum sentence for drivers who leave the scene of an accident is six months in jail.
Mr Bradshaw, the Labour MP for Exeter, says the sentence is far too lenient - and he's also concerned by the number of drivers convicted of motoring crimes, who escape outright bans.
Ryan Saltern was killed in Cornwall in a hit a run at the age of 33. The driver who later admitted being involved was sentenced to four months in prison. The attached video report is from BBC Spotlight.
