Timur Tutierov on loan until summer
Exeter City have announced the loan signing of winger Timur Tutierov from Premier League side Sunderland, until the end of the 2025/26 season - subject to EFL approval.
The Ukrainian attacker joined the Black Cats from Kolos Kovalivka in 2023, having already gained experience with senior matchday squads in Ukraine’s top flight.
Tutierov made an immediate impact at Sunderland, impressing on his Under-21 debut with a dynamic performance that showcased his pace, power and work rate. During the 2024/25 season, he made 16 appearances for the U21s, scoring four goals, while also becoming a regular for Ukraine’s Under-19s as they competed at the 2024 UEFA European Under-19 Championship.
In 2025, Timur took the next step in his development by making his debut at Under-21 international level. This season, he has continued his fine form, registering nine goals in 13 youth competition appearances and earning places on the bench for four of Sunderland’s Premier League fixtures across December and January.
Speaking about bringing the winger to St James Park, manager Gary Caldwell said:
“Timur is someone we have been tracking for a while. He came in to train with us for a few days in December so we could get to know him better, both as a player and as a person. That’s something we want to do more often with loan players. With Sil Swinkels returning to Aston Villa it opened up a loan spot and some budget to work with.
“He has a similar character to Immi – energetic, enthusiastic, and determined to improve and progress his career. On the pitch, he brings real pace and directness and can play anywhere across the front line.
“We’ve felt we’ve been missing that explosive speed this season, someone who can go one-v-one and threaten in behind and Timur can give us that.”
Timur will wear the No. 28 shirt during his time with the Grecians.
